Kornpop was born when I was 12 years old. I was the Class Clown and was always getting into some kind of mischief in school. I had to write a report and I wrote it on the circus. My teacher knew a
retired circus clown and introduced him to me. His name was Popcorn and I wanted to be just like him when I grew up. He taught me some of the basics of clowning and he even made his own makeup with
Crisco and zinc oxide. (That is why they called it grease paint.)
Although I have never performed in a Circus, part of my training was by Frosty Little who was 1 of only 4 Master Clowns from Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey Circus. Toby Twist, who taught me how to be a stilt walker, was also a Ringling trained clown. I have taken magic, clowning, and balloon classes from some of the most accredited teachers in the world.
Some of it must have rubbed off because at the Texas Clown Association convention in August 2012, I became an award winning clown and balloon artist.
Kornpop the Klown has been performing professionally since 1986. In that time I have performed over 300 Birthday Parties, many corporate events such as Grand Openings, Non Profit Fund Raisers, Company Picnics, Conventions, Christmas Parties, and more. My Klown Ministry has allowed me to perform and minister on 5 continents around the world in such places as Australia, Russia, Thailand, Egypt, and China. I have performed with Brooks & Dunn, Willie Nelson, Wynona Judd, D.C. Talk, Luminate, and have done events with Super Star Athletes like Randy White, Jay Novacek, Tuff Hedeman, Larry Mahan, Payne Stewart, Dallas Cowboy & Houston Texan Cheerleaders and many more, but one of the things I like to do best is see the smile come across the face of a child when I show up at their birthday party.
One of the best feelings I get is when someone recognizes me and tells me that I came to their birthday party when they were 3 or 5 or 7 or 10 and it was the best party they ever had.
I was invited to a birthday party of 16 year old twins, because I had performed at their 5th birthday and the girl said it was the best party she ever had and all she wanted for her 16th was Kornpop to come back. It was a big surprise for the twin brother and he was a little embarrassed at first until I made one of his high school buddies an Alligator Hat. They thought that was the coolest thing they had ever seen. The Birthday Boy then helped me with the magic show and had a blast! ( All of their friends did also.)
